ABOUT US
MOJAH is a not-for-profit Jamaican charity — a museum without walls with a bold vision: to provide young Jamaicans with interactive, inspiring experiences that bring our rich history and culture to life.
As Marcus Garvey said, “A people without knowledge of their past history, origin, and culture is like a tree without roots.”
MOJAH was born in rural St. Elizabeth, where founder Virginia Burke created a wildly popular art class at a small primary school. “Today is the happiest day,” said one student. “I wish this would never end,” said another.
Like many emerging museums, MOJAH started at the “kitchen table,” fueled by passionate volunteers and experts—local and international—who share a commitment to engaging young minds through creativity, storytelling, and heritage.
Our vision: To immerse young Jamaicans (ages 8-13) in our Seven Pillars—multicultural identity, the arts, food and natural remedies, sports and athletics, changemakers and heroes, ecotourism, and conservation — through modern, interactive experiences that connect past, present, and future.
MOJAH is for everyone, at home and abroad. We invite you to share your stories, your love for Jamaica, and your vision for what’s possible. Let’s make learning fun, far-reaching, and unforgettable.
